Comox Valley RCMP said a 33-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a store clerk during a robbery in Courtenay has been arrested.

The suspect in a violent robbery in the Comox Valley is now behind bars.

According to a Comox Valley RCMP press release issued Saturday, officers arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a store clerk during a robbery in Courtenay earlier this month.

Mounties say that on the night of Sept. 18, a female employee at a store located in the 1000-block of Ryan Road was stabbed by a man, who proceeded to steal money and cigarettes from the store as a co-worker attending to the victim.

The unidentified man is from Courtenay and remains behind bars, according to Comox Valley RCMP.

“Investigators have been working tirelessly to identify, locate and arrest the suspect. We understand that this incident caused significant concern in the community, and we want to reassure the public that the suspect is now in custody,” Sgt. Glen Breckon of the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit said in the press release.
