Mercedes-Benz dealership fire now confirmed as arson: VicPD

Victoria Police have now confirmed to CHEK News the car fire at the Mercedes-Benz dealership is being investigated as arson.

This is now the third of four suspicious fires in the area that are being investigated as arsons.

The fire at the Mercedes-Benz dealership was on July 12 where a car on the lot was set on fire around midnight.

There is no suspect or a person of interest identified in the fires at this time, and police have yet to determine if the nearby fires were set by one person or multiple people.

The first suspicious fire occurred on June 16 at Ricky’s restaurant along Douglas Street and Burnside Road, the second fire occurred on June 23 at a car rental business in the 2500-block of Government Street, and the third suspicious fire occurred on July 2 at an unoccupied heritage home that was undergoing renovations, also in the 2500-block of Government Street.
