The snow continues to fall across Vancouver Island in a cold snap, and DriveBC is warning drivers of some serious travel conditions on multiple Island highways.

On highway 1, 14 and 18, driving conditions are rated as “severe ” on the safety website, due to limited visibility and compact snow.

It’s recommended to avoid the Malahat as a travel advisory is posted for a 64.5 kilometre stretch of Highway 1, from Duncan to Victoria.

On Highway 14, a Drive BC has put a travel advisory in effect between Godman Rd and Danbrook Ave for 97 kilometres, from Langford to Port Renfrew.

For Lake Cowichan residents, there’s another travel advisory on Highway 18 in both directions starting from North Shore Road E and Hall Road for 26.5 kilometres.

Both the Saanich and Victoria police departments are asking everyone to stay home if possible, as officers have responded to multiple crashes already.
