The Victoria Police Department is cautioning holiday shoppers after thieves stole $1,000 worth of presents out of a Victoria family’s vehicle.

In a police report issued on Friday, VicPD says that officers received a report overnight on Dec. 9, claiming that presents that had been temporarily left in a vehicle had been heisted in the 1100-block of View Street.

Officers with Victoria Police are currently investigating the matter, but no suspects have been identified at this time.

The incident and the time of year has led Victoria Police to issue a reminder to residents to not leave presents or packages unattended in their vehicle, despite COVID-19 changing the shopping landscape.
