Nanaimo dance duo Funkanometry made it to the finals of television series Canada’s Got Talent, but fell just shy of taking home the $1-million grand prize on Tuesday.

The dance crew, starring Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush, was competing against seven other acts for the first place prize, which was decided entirely by fan votes.

The duo ended up losing to Rebecca Strong, a singer from Prince Albert, SK, who performed an impressive rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”

The $1-million prize is the largest ever awarded on a Canadian television show, according to Citytv.

“Thank you, Rogers, and thank you to everyone who voted for me,” said Strong after Tuesday night’s win. “Thank you to my family and friends and everyone back home. Thank you so much, Marsi Cho.”

Funkanometry was one of four Vancouver Island acts to make it onto the show, among more than 100 competitors in total.

The group was the only one out of the four to make it to the finals of Canada’s Got Talent.
