
A new driver has learned firsthand what happens when you’re caught going nearly 60 km/h over the posted speed limit.
Central Saanich Police say officers clocked the novice motorist going 88 km/h in the 6700-block of Lochside Drive — where the posted speed limit is just 30 km/h — on Feb. 10.
The motorist was issued a $489 fine for excessive speed and given five demerit points.
Police also impounded the vehicle for seven days.
