Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau said while winds are expected to ease later this afternoon as the low-pressure system weakens and moves out of the region, more wind and rain is coming.
“We’re not out of the woods once this low passes by,” Charbonneau said.
“There is another low-pressure system coming in behind it and that’s going to bring rain and wind to Vancouver Island again tomorrow.
According to Charbonneau, many areas of Vancouver Island have 40 to 60 kilometre an hour winds mentioned in Tuesday’s forecast.
“We will be watching this system for potential wind warnings as it comes closer,” Charbonneau said.
As of Monday afternoon, the Southern Gulf Islands were under a wind warning.

Vancouver Island wind warnings on Nov. 13.
The high winds led to many BC Ferries sailings being cancelled, including some sailings between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen. There were also several power outages across Vancouver Island due to the winds.
“We will expect to see the winds come down and ease for many regions late this afternoon but not die down to completely calm. Tomorrow will be another windy day,” Charbonneau said.
