Donations continue to pour in for the family of a mother who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash near Ladysmith last weekend.

On Aug. 29, a Ford F-150 pickup truck went over a concrete median on the Trans-Canada Highway near Oyster Sto Lo Road and collided with SUV heading in the opposite direction, according to BC RCMP. A third vehicle crashed into a nearby pole in order to avoid the collision.

The crash claimed the life of 35-year-old Katie Blogg, a mother of two from Ladysmith who was driving the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Ford F-150 fled the crash scene and was captured by police five days later at a campground near Nanaimo.

Days after the crash, on Aug. 31, a GoFundMe was established in an effort to raise money to support Blogg’s husband and their two young children and “centralize any support” people may wish to provide to the family.

Less than 72 hours later, more than $100,000 had been raised for the family and as of Sept. 6, the campaign has received a little more than $127,000.

According to the GoFundMe page, all donated funds will go towards the future education of Gracie, Harrison as well as a “loving memorial” for Blogg.
