An Environment Canada fog advisory is in effect on Wednesday night for Eastern Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.

The advisory covers areas from Duncan to Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay, and Courtenay to Campbell River.

It is also in effect for the Southern Gulf Islands.

Environment Canada says near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring over some areas.

Moisture trapped under a strong temperature inversion will continue to give fog and areas of poor visibility tonight.

The fog is forecast to dissipate Thursday morning as a Pacific frontal system approaches the coast.

If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility.
