B.C. Premier to make address regarding COVID-19 today

BC Premier John Horgan is set to give an update on the province’s response to COVID-19 on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.

Live at 1:15 p.m. PT: B.C. Premier John Horgan will be speaking from the B.C. legislature in Victoria where he is expected to give an update on the province's response to the ongoing pandemic.

The premier will make the announcement live from the B.C. legislature and will answer questions from the media through the telephone.

In his last press conference on April 9, Horgan announced $5 million in funding from the province towards expanding existing mental health programs and services amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced an expansion of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) program, while offering wage increases to workers on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trudeau also announced the launching of a mental health portal to help struggling Canadians during the coronavirus crisis.

Following the premier’s press conference at 1:15 pm, the province’s top health officials will hold their daily B.C. COVID-19 update at 3:00 pm. This can also be viewed on CHEK’s Facebook Page and Youtube channel.

As of April 14, 2020, in B.C. there were 1,517 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 72 deaths.
