B.C. liquor retailers, including wine stores and private liquor stores, can temporarily operate between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., daily.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, British Columbians can now buy liquor a little earlier.

The provincial government has announced that it is temporarily extending the operating hours of retail liquor stores in order to provide “opportunities for physical distancing for seniors” and people who are immuno-compromised.

Liquor retailers, including wine stores and private liquor stores, throughout the province can now temporarily operate between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., daily.

Additionally, delivery services can purchase, deliver and sell liquor products from a liquor store, during these same hours.

However, the changes do not override any additional requirements or limitations placed on businesses regarding hours of liquor service by local governments or First Nations, the province notes.

The measures should provide seniors and immuno-compromised populations the opportunity to buy liquor during early shopping hours and will help liquor stores continue to comply with distancing orders, the province said in a press release.

The measure is effective immediately and will remain in place until July 15.
