Nanaimo RCMP seeks help to find missing 65-year-old Lionel Cayer, who was last heard from Sunday morning.
UPDATE: Lionel Cayer was found deceased on April 25, 2018.
A missing Nanaimo man’s truck has been found parked at Westwood Lake.
Nanaimo RCMP said Lionel Cayer’s Toyota Tundra truck was located at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
Cayer was reported missing in Nanaimo on April 22 and has not been seen or heard from since. Investigators say Cayer is struggling with personal issues and does not have his required daily medication with him, which has caused concern for family and friends.
Nanaimo search and rescue crews have been contacted and will be looking around the area near the lake. They do have access to a boat if it is needed. Nanaimo RCMP are continuing to look for Cayer with aircraft, a bike unit and police dogs.
Cayer is described by police as a white man standing 5’3.” He is 140 pounds with greying hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a flower on his left hand.
Cayer’s family have been notified of the new development. Anyone who sees Cayer is asked to call 911 immediately.
