2 seek mayor's seat in Port Alice, councillors acclaimed

There are two people running to be mayor of Port Alice, while the councillor seats have been acclaimed.

Advance voting will take place on Oct. 5, 11, 12, 13, and 14 and general voting day will be Oct. 15. On all days voting will take place between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the municipal office.

Kevin Cameron is the current mayor seeking to be re-elected to his seat, and he is being challenged by Beth Thompson.

Holly Aldis, Russell Murray, David Stewart, and Sean Watson are the four councillors acclaimed to their roles.

The school trustee seats for the Vancouver Island North School District are also acclaimed to their roles.

In 2018, 283 people voted in the municipal election for a voter turnout of 64 per cent.
