As a major winter storm buries Greater Victoria in snow just days before Christmas, many people are wondering whether that means our chances are higher for a white Christmas this year.

But what are the odds of a Christmas Miracle?

Through PlayNow.com, the BC Lottery Corporation is offering bettors the ability to wager on whether Victoria will have a White Christmas.

White Christmases are a rarity in the B.C. Capital, which is considered the palm tree capital of Canada and has the most temperate climate in the country.

Unfortunately, for those hoping for snow for Christmas, this year will likely not be an exception.

The forecast is calling for a warm-up starting on Friday and showers on Christmas Eve Day, which will like wash away the snow before Christmas, as well as more rain on Christmas Day.

PlayNow.com’s odds of snow in the provincial capital are 2.50 — making it the biggest longshot in Canada, along with Vancouver, among the betting options.

Ottawa, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary are much more likely to see a white Christmas.

If you’re feeling like betting on the weather, you can also wager on what will be the coldest day in Vancouver on January 2023.
