The interior of a fire-damaged house in Victoria currently listed for sale is photographed.

A Victoria house damaged by fire is currently for sale, and striking photos taken inside the dwelling reveal the aftermath of flames and smoke.

“I’ve been in the business 47 years. This is the worst (listing) I’ve ever had,” said realtor Frank Rudge, telling CHEK News he doesn’t think the two-bedroom, 1,500-square-foot house can be salvaged.

The house’s only bathroom is “completely destroyed,” says Rudge, while the kitchen’s cream-coloured cabinets and white backsplash are covered in black soot.

“I don’t believe there’s any chance of recovery or rebuilding that house. All the floor joists and beams…are damaged and charred and so forth. There’s no electricity because of the melting of wires,” he said.

“House severely damaged by fire,” reads the listing description, which states it’s a court-ordered sale and the property, listed for $535,000, is land value only.

It was the night of June 25, 2022, when firefighters were called to Sumas Street for a report of a house on fire. The homeowner, who did not want to be named, told CHEK News he was grateful for the fire department’s quick response.

Large amounts of smoke spewed from the property, and a neighbour said she saw the homeowner escape uninjured.

Victoria police said the blaze was non-suspicious.
