The Canadian Coast Guard rescued a woman Thursday morning after police received a report of someone screaming in the water near Bowser.

Oceanside RCMP received the report around 8:30 a.m. that indicated a person was screaming and was approximately 30 to 45 metres  (100 to 150 feet) from the shore in Bowser.

Emergency services personnel went to the area and saw someone was motionless off the shore. The Coast Guard pulled the unresponsive woman out of the water and brought her to the land. She was treated by BC Ambulance and then airlifted out of the area.

Police said the woman’s condition is unknown at this time and they are still investigating the incident. Oceanside RCMP have not released the identity of the woman but said they are working to notify her next of kin.
