West Shore RCMP say they are hoping to return stolen fish finders to their rightful owners after they were discovered with narcotics at a home in Colwood.

According to the detachment, officers from their drug and organized crime unit executed a search warrant on a residential property near the 3000-block of Haida Drive in Colwood and found a fish finder worth an estimated $1,000 and other items that had reportedly been stolen.

Officers also uncovered evidence of drug trafficking taking place in the home, finding narcotics suspected to be a mixture of fentanyl and amphetamine along with suspected cutting agents and drug packaging paraphernalia.

All of the items were seized by officers.

West Shore RCMP say the discovery and seizure is the result of an investigation that began on Jan. 3, after officers investigated a reported theft of various items, including a fish finder, from a boat that was docked at the Pedder Bay RV Resort and Marina in Metchosin.

Const. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media relations officer, said in a press release that the investigation is ongoing and that officers have identified a 46-year-old woman as the suspect.

“Charges relating to drug trafficking, break and enter and possession of stolen property are forthcoming in this matter,” she said.

Furthermore, Sagger said, officers also found a second fish finder, which they also think is stolen, and are hoping to return it to its rightful owner.

“We are looking to return this item to the rightful owner. If a fish finder was stolen from you and you can provide manufacturing details like a serial number, call us to see if this is yours,” said Sagger.
