West Shore RCMP are investigating a shooting outside the Happy Valley Market Happy Valley Road in Langford Tuesday morning.
According to police, the shooting is believed to be a targeted and isolated incident.
Police cordoned off the Happy Valley Market in the 3400-block of Happy Valley Road in Langford following the reported shooting at around 10:45 a.m. An employee at the market reported hearing two shots fired outside. A neighbour who lived across the street also told CHEK they heard two shots.
Police said they believe two vehicles were involved in the shooting and both fled southbound on Happy Valley Road.
One of the vehicles, a white Kia SUV, crashed at Kelly Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway after the shooting and one man was taken into custody. At the time, officers were investigating an unrelated collision at the same intersection.
As our officers were already on scene, they were able to quickly and safely arrest one suspect as well as seize a firearm from the vehicle
, Const. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media liasion officer, said in a statement.
The second vehicle, a brown Cadillac sedan was recovered on Leila Rd in Colwood. Police are still trying to determine what the involvement of the second vehicle was and its occupant or occupants.
