Victoria’s Congregation Emanu-El on Blanshard Street is the latest Canadian synagogue targeted by anti-Semitism.

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre (FSWC) released a picture of a letter received by Congregation Emanu-El, with a swastika in a yellow Star of David.

The star is dripping with blood in the picture and is surrounded by the words “Jewry Must Perish”.

FSWC expressed their concern with the latest incident of hate mail sent to synagogues. Other congregations have been targeted across the country.

This is the second time in less than two months that anti-Semitic messages have been spread in Victoria.

Anti-Semitic and white supremacist posters circulated on the University of Victoria in November.

News of the letter comes on the final day of the Jewish celebration of Chanukah.

Congregation Emanu-El is the oldest surviving synagogue in Canada.
