Jason Ernst from Victoria has won over $60,000 from a winning Keno ticket

Another Vancouver Island Keno player has walked away with a decent haul in prize winnings after a Victoria man won over $60,000.

Jason Ernst says he had to check his ticket twice and do a double-take in order to ensure he won. The winning ticket earned him exactly $60,036 from a draw on February 27, 2021.

“I was sitting in my truck the following day and I decided to check my tickets on the BCLC Lotto! app,” he recalled. “When I first saw the win amount, I couldn’t believe it and had to check it two more times!”

The ticket was purchased by Ernst at the Fairway Market on Jacklin Road.

The Victoria resident says he has his own set of numbers that he enjoys playing with.

“I told my family and they didn’t believe me since we often joke with each other,” said Ernst.

On how it feels to win, Ernst says “It feels really good and surreal… it’s just a great feeling to be a winner!”

Keno has proven successful recently for a few Vancouver Islanders recently.

One man, Paul Lambert, says he won $25,000 twice in a row playing Keno.

Lambert, a resident of Bowser, said he played the same numbers in the same pub only a few weeks apart.
