Victoria police are investigating after two fires were lit inside a downtown store on Saturday.

Police were called to Value Village at 1810 Store St. just after 8:30 p.m. for a report of a fire along a product rack inside the store.

Investigators were told that the flames were approximately 2.5 metres (eight feet) tall before staff were able to put out the fire using fire extinguishers.

Shortly after, a customer reported a second, smaller fire inside the store but were able to put it out themselves.

Police are now asking any witnesses of the fire to come forward, particularly two women who were inside the shop at the time who may have seen the suspect or suspects.

Police are also asking for anyone with dashcam or surveillance video to contact police, as well as anyone who may have seen something suspicious leading up to the fires.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the E-Comm Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously online or at 1-800-222-8477.
