Victoria Police find man in 'pool of blood' following downtown stabbing, seek witnesses

The Victoria Police Department is investigating after finding a man in a “pool of blood” following a stabbing that took place on Yates Street earlier this week.

According to police, the incident took place just after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, in the 500-block of Yates Street.

BC Emergency Health Services paramedics contacted police after they received a call for assistance due to a young man being stabbed.

Police say the young man was stabbed in the head, arm and hands and when officers arrived on the scene, they found the man lying in a pool of blood, suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

When officers arrived, first aid was being administered to the man by shelter staff. Once the scene was secure, paramedics were able to act quickly, providing emergency first aid and rushing the victim to hospital.

After getting treatment, the victim is now in stable condition and his injuries and considered non-life-threatening.

VicPD’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS) attended to document the scene and detectives with the Investigative Services Division (ISD) Major Crime Unit are continuing to investigate this incident.

At this time, Victoria Police is seeking witnesses or anyone with surveillance footage of the area in order to learn more about the incident.
