Victoria police say they have learned Kyle Harvey (pictured) has left the province.

The Victoria Police Department says a man wanted in connection with a drug trafficking ring discovered in Centennial Square has left B.C.

Police say as a result, they are no longer actively looking for Kyle Harvey in the Greater Victoria area.

On Wednesday, VicPD said they have learned that Kyle Harvey is no longer in province.

“There is no reason to believe that he has fled from police and investigators do not believe there is a risk to public safety,” police said in a statement.

The two unendorsed warrants for drug trafficking remain active for Harvey in B.C.

Harvey, 28, is the only person linked to an August investigation into drug activity and violence in Centennial Square that has not been arrested.

The four-day undercover investigation led police to issue arrest warrants for seventeen people, 15 men and two women, for a total of 18 drug trafficking charges.

Victoria police say that undercover officers posed as drug buyers between Aug. 11 and 15, claiming they purchased multiple illegal substances during the sting operation including methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.

Police had initially launched their investigation as a result of “increased violent crime linked to the drug trade in the area.”

Following the sting, police managed to locate and arrest 16 of the 17 people.
