The woman said her bike is her main mode of transport

Victoria Police Department found, rebuilt and returned a bicycle to a woman after it was stolen last week.

According to VicPD, the woman used the bike as her primary mode of transportation and she would ride out to Costco from downtown Victoria for grocery runs.

Police say one of the woman’s friends reported seeing the stolen bike outside a multi-unit temporary housing facility at the 1900-block of Douglas Street.

The bike was found outside and in pieces, according to police. They say that a man was also arrested for possession of stolen property.

VicPD says they broke out their tool boxes, put the bike back together including the missing parts, and returned it to its happy owner for future use.

Victoria Police says a way to protect bikes from theft is to register bicycles with VicPD. They say this makes a bike easier to identify if stolen and to return to its owner.
