A total of nine vehicles either collided or went into the ditch Monday morning during slippery conditions on the Pat Bay Highway.

Saanich police said they were called to a vehicle in the ditch on the Pat Bay Highway (Highway 17) near Haliburton Road around 6:10 a.m. When officers arrived they found two vehicles in the ditch.

While police were on scene, another vehicle spun out and also landed in the ditch. Then there was another small collision.

Police said no one was injured in any of the crashes. A combination of snow and ice buildup on the road are believed to be the cause.

The incidents caused delayed for morning commuters. Saanich police say while speed was not believed to be a factor, drivers should drive relative to road conditions, as well as plan to leave home and work a little early in order to reduce delays.
