Nanaimo RCMP are following up on many tips after a possible abduction or domestic assault in Nanaimo.
Police say the frightening incident happened at 10 a.m. Aug. 18. Witnesses reported hearing a woman screaming in the 100 Block of Skinner Street and when they went outside they saw a woman being repeatedly punched by a man, who then allegedly dragged her into a gold or beige Buick before the car sped away. So RCMP are appealing for anyone with information or who has seen a car matching that description to help.

“As a result of our media release, we have received several calls from the public about Buick’s that match the description,” said Cpl. Jon Stuart of Nanaimo RCMP. “Which we have followed up on and of course we encourage anybody in the public that has more information on this file to give us a call because we too are very concerned about this sort of incident occurring here.”

“Extremely scary stuff,” said Nanaimo resident Nathaniel Deiter, who lives just a few metres from where the possible abduction took place. “I have a five-year-old daughter and a girlfriend who lives with me most of the time and I don’t need to worry about having her disappearing off the street.”
So far no reports of missing women have come forward and RCMP say there is little more to go on than it was possibly a serious domestic abuse incident.
