Saanich Police is looking for the driver of a dark green SUV involved in a hit-and-run of a teenager in a crosswalk.
In a release, police say the 17-year-old woman was crossing in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Blenkinsop and Cedar Hill X roads around 8:20 a.m. Monday morning.
While crossing, she was hit by the driver of a dark green SUV, who was travelling east on Cedar Hill X Road and turning left onto Blenkinsop Road. That is when the driver hit the pedestrian.
The teen has serious injuries to one of her legs.
The Traffic Safety Unit is trying to identify the driver.
Anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run, or has any footage, is asked to contact Saanich Police at 250-475-4321.
This incident is the latest in a series of hit-and-runs that have occurred on Vancouver Island this month.
On Feb. 24, a 90-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run in Cedar, outside of Nanaimo.

Three days before that, another teenager was the victim of a hit-and-run in Port Alberni shortly after getting off the school bus.

On Feb. 12, a 75-year-old pedestrian had to be airlifted to hospital from Qualicum Beach after being hit in a hit-and-run.

Prior to that, on Feb. 8, a cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run in Courtenay. Of these five incidents, this is the only one where a driver has been caught. Investigations in the remaining four are still ongoing.
In B.C., failing to remain at the scene of a crash comes with a ticket of $368. Under the federal Criminal Code, it is an offence to not stop after a crash to give your name and address or provide assistance to any injured persons.
