An 18-year-old motorist was hit with a fine of more than $350 after he was caught going at a “high rate of speed,” say police.
According to the Oak Bay Police Department, an officer was conducting radar enforcement along a section of Foul Bay Road last week when a 2016 Toyota Corolla drove by at nearly double the speed limit.
Police say the vehicle was going 96 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
The driver, an 18-year-old male, was issued a $368 ticket for excessive speed and the Corolla was impounded for seven days.
The impoundment came on the same day that Oak Bay PD caught another 18-year-old motorist going 106 km/h on Foul Bay Road.
