West Shore RCMP says the suspect in a Langford incident where a machete was reportedly brandished over a parking lot clash has come forward.

Cst. Nancy Saggar says the 29-year-old woman that police had identified and wanted to speak to for her side of the story has agreed to meet with investigators.

The incident happened Sunday around 1 p.m. when West Shore RCMP received a report of a confrontation in the Costco parking lot near the McCallum Road entrance, adjacent to the tire shop.

Police were told by the complainant that she was attempting to park in a stall but was cut off by another driver who took the spot.

According to police, a verbal argument took place and the suspect allegedly reached into her vehicle and pulled out a machete, showing it in a threatening manner to the complainant.

The woman that reported the incident to police said she backed away and called authorities.

RCMP say the suspect reached out to them hours after the initial media release went out, and identified herself to the West Shore detachment.

Police continue to ask any witnesses of the incident to call West Shore RCMP at  250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
