Parts of Vancouver Island may finally see some rain very soon.

Late Wednesday afternoon. Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for southern sections of Inland and West Vancouver Island. Thunderstorms are developing over those areas, Environment Canada said.

According to the weather agency, these thunderstorms have the potential to produce strong gusts of wind, large hail and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Environment Canada advises that when thunder roars go indoors. The organization also suggests to monitor alerts and forecasts and to report severe weather by sending an email to [email protected] or tweet using #BCStorm.
