RCMP say the women use a distraction-based technique to pocket cash

A pair of women have been scamming their way across Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C., targeting Save on Foods locations, according to West Shore RCMP.

According to police, the duo’s most recent target was the Save on Foods on McCallum Road in Langford on April 11. They say the two women use a distraction-based technique, allowing them to pocket cash and leave before the theft is discovered.

Police say they have been seen leaving the stores in a dark-coloured minivan.

Since the first incident was reported on March 19, 2021, Save on Foods officials estimate the pair have stolen $7,386 in cash from various locations across the provinces.

“Someone knows who these women are,” said Cst. Meighan Massey of West Shore RCMP in a press release Thursday. “They are travelling across Canada, in the middle of a pandemic, victimizing businesses as they go. We are asking anyone with information regarding these crimes to please contact police.”

Police are asking if anyone has information about the identity of these women to contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
