Saanich police investigate sex assault on transit bus

Saanich police say they're looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a BC Transit bus last week.

Police in Saanich are looking for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted on a transit bus last week.

In a news release, police say the incident happened on a 39 BC Transit bus that left the University of Victoria at around 1:40 p.m. Friday.

As it was driving, a man approached a woman and committed a sexual assault, police say.

Both the man and the woman exited the bus at Royal Oak Exchange just after 2 p.m. The woman was reportedly followed by the man before he disappeared.

The woman was not physically injured, according to police.

The suspect is described as Black, between 20-30 years old, 5’8″ to 5’11” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black skater-style hat, a long-sleeved shirt, black pants and a dark-coloured backpack, police said.
