Officers with the Victoria Police Department have seized a realistic replica submachine gun-style firearm from the Burnside-Gorge neighbourhood on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a police report, officers were contacted by an area resident after the replica firearm was discovered in a shopping bag outside a multi-unit residential building.

The building is located in the 100-block of Gorge Road East and the firearm was said to be hung from a balcony in such a way that it was hidden from view but “accessible to someone without needing direct access to the building,” reads a statement from VicPD.

Police say that officers found the gun and seized it for destruction.

At this time, no arrests have been made in connection to the replica submachine gun incident.
