The suspect in an alleged sexual assault on a bus in Saanich was arrested over the weekend.
According to a Saanich Police Department press release, officers arrested a 43-year-old man, who they say is responsible for a sexual assault that took place on a bus earlier this month.
The alleged incident took place onboard a BC Transit bus that had departed from the University of Victoria at around 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 10.
Police say as the bus was driving, the suspect approached a woman onboard and sexually assaulted her.
Both the man and the woman exited the bus at Royal Oak Exchange just after 2 p.m. and the woman was followed by the male suspect, who later disappeared.
The suspect, a 43-year-old Saanich man, was eventually released on conditions.
Const. Markus Anastasiades, media relations officer with the Saanich Police Department, said the police are recommending a charge of sexual assault, but that charges have not been sworn in court.
A court date has been scheduled for later this year.
