A washroom at the University of Victoria (UVic) was damaged by fire over the weekend, and investigators believe it was human caused.
“…the fire we are investigating there was suspicious,” according to a spokesperson with Saanich Police.
The Saanich Fire Department tells CHEK News firefighters were called to the Jamie Cassels Centre, which houses academic and administrative offices, around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, for a report of a small structure fire. Crews extinguished the blaze.
In an update Monday, Saanich police say the damage was minimal and contained to one room. The spokesperson says officers arrived on scene around 7 p.m.
“We are investigating, do not have any suspects at this time and are asking anyone with information to contact police,” they said.
“University operations have not been impacted,” added UVic in a statement.
