CHEK

In this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine chats with Sage Lacerte, founder and chief executive officer of Sage Initiative.

CHEK spoke with Sage back in 2021, at that time she was just launching her new business. You can read that article here.

Sage Initiative puts Indigenous Womxn squarely in the driver’s seat, with a vision to build a national network of Indigenous Womxn trained in impact investment.

By focusing on investing in Indigenous-owned social purpose businesses and Trusts, Indigenous wealth will stay in Indigenous communities and begin to form a “circular economy”.

“I’m a part of a generation of young Indigenous womxn who have investible savings and a desire to invest our money in a way that helps our people,” she said.

One year after launching, Sage Initiative has hosted one cohort of entrepreneurs and is now accepting applications for this falls cohort.

In this episode, Sage talks about the motivation behind her business, what it means to her and also touches on the upcoming cohort.
