Although floodwaters remain on several roads, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) says conditions are improving.

The River Forecast Centre of B.C. has ended flood warnings for all areas of Vancouver Island, and have downgraded the Cowichan River to a high streamflow advisory.

A high streamflow advisory is maintained for the Somass River.

The RDN says river levels are receding with minimal precipitation forecast Tuesday and many of the roads that were closed are now open.

Water over roads is still causing localized closures and the RDN says extensive damage on Rumming Road in Lantzville from a landslide and washed out Melrose Road in Whiskey Creek will be closed for a significant amount of time.
