The Comox Valley RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down the suspect or suspects who stole multiple gargoyles from a fenced compound in Fanny Bay.

Police say that officers responded to a report of a break and enter at the compound – located in the 7500-block of Island Highway South in Fanny Bay – on January 1.

The incident is believed to have occurred between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, when the report was received.

According to Comox Valley RCMP, officers believe the suspect(s) were in the area for a while. This is because multiple statues were stolen, with each one weighing “hundreds of pounds.”

The stolen gargoyles are estimated to be “worth hundreds of dollars,” says RCMP.

Police are asking for anyone who may have observed suspicious behaviour in the area to call the Comox Valley RCMP non-emergency line.

Officers are also seeking any dashcam footage or anyone with possible information on the whereabouts of the gargoyles to contact them at (250) 338-1321 and reference file 2020-38.

Below are photos of similar statues, compiled by the Comox Valley RCMP.
