No one was injured and a major street was shut down in Port Alberni as firefighters battled a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out at a home in the 3700-block of Redford Street at around 2:30 p.m., with multiple people calling 911 to report it.
Flames could be seen shooting out of a door at the home in a video posted by Port Alberni Fire, which confirmed all three floors of the building were involved.
Crews began a defensive attack then moved inside the house, only to revert to a defensive position once fire began reaching through the rood, according to Port Alberni Fire Chief Mike Owens.
As of 5 p.m., the blaze was in the mop-up stage.
One person was in the home when the fire started but managed to make it out OK, said Owens. He was assessed by paramedics and did not need to be transported to hospital.
The cause of the fire and the area of origin remain under investigation.
