Police use 'bean bag' shotgun to arrest man who threatened delivery driver with large metal rod

A Victoria man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a delivery driver with a weapon.

A Victoria man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a delivery driver with a weapon.

According to the Victoria Police Department, officers received reports of a man threatening a delivery driver with a large metal rod at a convenience store in the 2600-block of Quadra Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday.

When police arrived on scene, they were able to find the suspect based on the information given by witnesses. 

The suspect refused to comply with the officers’ direction, and the officers deployed a bean bag shotgun to arrest the suspect.

The man was then transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics.

VicPD is recommending charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
