West Shore RCMP say there was an attempted robbery on Sept. 3 on a foot bridge near Kuper Avenue and Belmont Road

West Shore RCMP say they are looking for a suspect after a report of an attempted armed robbery early Thursday morning.

Police said they received a report of a robbery on the footbridge across from the Galloping Goose Trail near Belmont Road and Kuper Avenue in Colwood at around 12:26 a.m.

The victim told police he was walking along the bridge when he was approached by a male suspect riding a bike. The suspect allegedly brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet.

The victim called 911 and the wallet was not given to the suspect.

Police said the suspect rode away on the trail toward Sooke Road in the direction of Denny’s Restaurant.

The victim was not physically harmed and the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described by police as a Caucasian man with fair-coloured skin, approximately 5’10” to 5’11,” 20 to 30 years old with a slim build and stubble on his face. He was wearing jeans, a grey shirt, a black baseball cap on backwards and carrying a black backpack. He was riding a black BMX bike at the time.

West Shore RCMP also received two similar robbery reports over the weekend in Langford.

“We have canvassed the area at all three scenes and have received tips from the public. We continue to follow up on leads however, no arrests have been made at this time and the suspect is still outstanding,” Const. Nancy Saggar, media relations officer with West Shore RCMP said in a statement.
