Police seek dashcam footage, more information about assault in Saanich

Police are once again asking the public for information about a violent assault that took place in Saanich.

According to the Saanich Police Department, a man was seriously injured after being attacked with a weapon in the 200-block of the Trans-Canada Highway between Carey and Tillicum roads just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 3.

The incident ended up shutting down the northbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway for hours Friday morning as well as parts of the Galloping Goose Trail.

Police say they are still investigating the matter and are now asking anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

They are specifically requesting dashcam footage from anyone who was on Tillicum Road between Tillicum Mall and Trans-Canada Highway from 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 2.

They are also seeking dashcam footage from anyone who was on Burnside Road/Interurban Road between Tillicum Mall and Colquitz Middle School from 10:00 p.m. until 10:45 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Additionally, police are also requesting dashcam footage from anyone who was on Trans-Canada Highway between McKenzie Avenue and Saanich Road on Sept. 3 between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.
