Police say a man was seriously injured after being attacked with a weapon in Saanich, an incident that shut down northbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway for hours Friday morning.
Just before 3 a.m., police received a report of an injured man in the 200-block of the Trans-Canada Highway between Carey and Tillicum roads.
Officers called to the scene found the man in serious condition and determined he was injured by a weapon. He was taken to hospital and remained there Friday afternoon receiving medical care, police said.
In addition to shutting down northbound lanes of the highway until around 9:30 a.m., the incident also shut down part of the Galloping Goose Trail.
A police canine unit was seen accompanying officers searching in the area Friday.
Investigators are now asking anyone who was in the area or has footage of the Trans-Canada Highway between Uptown and Tillicum Road, and between the hours of 2 to 4 a.m., to call them at 250-475-4321.
