Central Saanich Police believe this black BMW sedan is associated with a high school assault.

Police in Central Saanich are sharing photos of a vehicle likely linked to last month’s assault outside Stelly’s Secondary School in hopes of solving the case.

Around 11:20 a.m. on Friday, June 10, Central Saanich Police were called to the school, located on Stellys Cross Road, after a male student was assaulted in the parking lot by a small group wearing ski masks.

After being struck with a mallet, the student suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. A knife was also present at the scene, Central Saanich Police Sgt. Paul Brailey said.

The suspects are believed to have fled in an older-model black BMW sedan with shiny rims caught on security camera following the incident, and now, investigators are seeking any details related to the car.

“We believe the vehicle was probably stationary along Stellys between the Saanich Fairgrounds and Wallace Drive,” added Brailey.

School District 63 Superintendent Dave Eberwein called the situation “unsettling” for everybody, including other students. He told CHEK News that the victim was at home recovering, though likely shaken up.

According to the school, supports were in place for those affected by the incident, which police said was “likely isolated between a group of individuals.”

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to contact Central Saanich Police at 250-652-4441 or submit evidence on their website. To make an anonymous report, tipsters can reach out to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
