Nanaimo RCMP says 34-year-old Jordan David Shepherd is wanted on five charges of fraud under $5,000 and one count of fraud in Ladysmith.
A Nanaimo man is wanted in multiple communities facing fraud charges after allegedly scamming money from his female victims last year.
Nanaimo RCMP says 34-year-old Jordan David Shepherd is wanted on five counts of fraud under $5,000, one count of fraud from Ladysmith RCMP and another fraud charge in New Westminster.
Ladysmith RCMP issued a Canada-wide warrant for Shepherd, who allegedly stole money from women in their mid-twenties to early thirties between February and August of 2017.
Shepherd, who has gone by the name Dave Rofter, reportedly befriended his victims in person or online and asked them to deposit a cheque for him in their account ranging from $1,000 to $1,600.
The cheque is written on his purported business account called “On the Rocks Surveying”.
Once the cheque was cashed, Shepherd would disappear and the women were later notified by their bank that the account did not exist.
“Some of the women who fell prey to Shepherd have taken to social media to warn other women of his actions,” said Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien.
“We too wish to warn others and hopefully encourage any victims who have not come forward yet to do so. Shepherd needs to be held accountable for his actions.”
Shepherd is described as being 6’1″ and weighs about 230 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Police say he has a tattoo of a crown on his right wrist and another saying “No Regrets” on his right upper arm.
Mounties say Shepherd may be on the lower mainland.
