Victoria police have now confirmed that the body found on Tuesday in the Gorge Waterway is that of a missing 26-year old man.
Duncan Pucker had been reported missing to Saanich Police on on Feb. 6. He had last been seen in Victoria two days earlier.
His body was found in the water near the Selkirk Trestle by a group of paddlers.
The discovery followed exhaustive searches of the Gorge Waterway and surrounding areas earlier this month with the assistance of the Saanich Police Dive Unit, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Canadian Coast Guard Operations and the crew of the Coast Guard ship CCGS Bartlett, Victoria Fire Department and Metchosin Ground Search and Rescue.
The BC Coroners Service is continuing to investigate the cause of his death as foul play is not suspected.
Duncan’s family shared the following statement.
“Duncan was a much loved and happy young man. He will be missed greatly. We are grateful for the efforts of the Victoria Police and all others who participated in the search for Duncan.”
His family has asked for privacy at this time.
