West Shore RCMP is investigating after a driver struck a pedestrian in a busy Langford intersection and fled the scene.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a woman who had been struck by a vehicle as she was crossing Veterans Memorial Parkway at the Goldstream Avenue intersection in Langford.

The 22-year-old pedestrian was crossing the road eastbound when a vehicle described as “gold-coloured” with four doors collided with her while attempting to turn left from Goldstream Ave onto Veterans Pkwy, heading southbound.

“The vehicle stopped briefly but left the scene promptly after. The driver did not stop to check on the victim,” says Const. Alex Bérubé, media relations officer for the West Shore RCMP.

“There were many vehicles around that intersection at the time and investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses that could provide crucial information in this case.”

The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution with minor injuries, according to police.

RCMP is currently investigating, anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle or the driver’s identity is being asked to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
