Oceanside RCMP say a 40-year-old man with no fixed address entered this BC Liquor Store in Parksville and began kicking and pushing display shelves, then ran into the parking lot – pushing over two elderly men in the process – and started screaming and jumping on parked vehicles.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly pushed and kicked display shelves at a Parksville liquor store, then ran into a parking lot and started screaming and jumping on vehicles.

According to Oceanside RCMP, the unidentified man entered the BC Liquor Store near Wembley Mall at around 10 a.m. on July 13 and began yelling, kicking and pushing display shelves.

Oceanside RCMP said the “hostile and aggressive” man then ran out of the store into the parking lot and without being provoked, pushed at least two elderly men. He then began screaming and jumping on vehicles in the parking lot, before running away from the area on foot.

RCMP received multiple calls about the man’s behaviour, including one call suggesting that the man was running through residential area yards, nearby parks and a farm field.

Eventually, officers located and arrested the 40-year-old, who has no fixed address, without incident on Church Road. He remains in custody and is expected to appear before the courts on July 14.

Oceanside RCMP, however, said they have not heard from the victims who were allegedly assaulted by the man and are asking them to contact them at 250-248-6111.
