The Parksville Fire Department got what their fire chief called a very unusual call on Thursday night.

Shortly after 6 p.m. two girls, one aged 11, the other 12, called 911 on a cellphone when they felt uncomfortable trying to climb down from a train trestle between Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

The girls were climbing across the trestle, on the timbers below the track, when they got stuck.

When firefighters arrived, the girls were 10 meters above the ground.

The firefighters brought the pair to the ground uninjured.

Fire Chief Marc Norris said the girls were technically trespassing and no one should be climbing on or walking across train trestles.
