After millions in renovations, the Parksville Community Centre is ready to reopen to the public later this month.

The City of Parksville announced earlier this week that they along with the Boys and Girls Club Central Vancouver Island will be holding a grand reopening party for the community centre, located at Jensen Avenue East, on June 25.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and features children’s entertainment, craft activities, refreshments, as well as tours of the newly renovated facility.

“We look forward to welcoming kids and their families, youth, and all members of the public interested in checking out the new BGC programs as well as the community space in the Parksville Community Centre,” the city said in a press release.

The Parksville Community Centre has undergone millions in renovations since March after the city received a $2,034,829 grant from the B.C. government in order to provide the facility with new childcare spaces and community programs.

As a result, the renovated building features 91 new childcare spaces, 37 spaces for infants to school age and 54 spaces for school-age children. BGC Central Vancouver Island will be responsible for operating the childcare centre and managing manage community use of the facility.

The city says space is available for various community uses like birthday parties, workshops, and weddings while BGCVI programs and services will begin in September.
